Autism Support Group

All parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger, Pervasive Development Disorder or similar are invited to a 7 p.m. meeting Monday, Aug. 27, at the St. Joseph-Breese HealthPlex.

The group is sponsored by the hospital Women and Infants Center and First Step, a division of Community Link in Breese. Serving as moderators are First Step staff members, Janice McElroy, Director of Children’s Programs, and Kim Lohman, Disability Services Coordinator.

The group provides a monthly opportunity for parents to find support. There is no charge.

The group is sponsored by the hospital Women and Infants Center and First Step, a division of Community Link in Breese. Moderators include First Step staff members Amanda Davenport, an Early Head Start and Infant Mental Health Coordinator, and Kimberly Stamps, a Qualified Service Professional and Developmental Therapist. Davenport has a master’s degree in social work with a specialization in children and family services from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, is a licensed social worker and has experience in the area of Early Intervention and early childhood mental health. Stamps holds bachelor’s degrees in social work and psychology from Western Illinois University in Macomb and has over 15 years of experience working with those impacted by autism and similar. The group provides a monthly opportunity for parents to find support. There is no charge.

Group to Meet at HealthPlex, for Parents of Children with Autism

A support group for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger, Pervasive Development Disorder or similar will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the St. Joseph-Breese HealthPlex.

The group, sponsored by First Step, a division of Community Link in Breese, and the hospital Women and Infants Center, will provide an opportunity for parents to meet others in similar situations and find support.

Moderators include First Step staff members Amanda Davenport, an Early Head Start and Infant Mental Health Coordinator, and Kimberly Stamps, a Qualified Service Professional and Developmental Therapist.

Davenport has a master’s degree in social work with a specialization in children and family services from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, is a licensed social worker and has experience in the area of Early Intervention and early childhood mental health.
