Kickboxing Classes

Christi Persing will be the instructor for the Dec. 10-Jan. 28 kickboxing class at the St. Joseph-Breese HealthPlex. A certified YogaFit instructor, she also teaches Yoga classes at the HealthPlex.

Anyone looking for a strength and cardio workout, may want to consider the six-week Kickboxing class scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Dec. 10 through Jan. 28, at the St. Joseph-Breese HealthPlex.

Sessions will not be held Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 due to the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve holidays.

A combination of kicking and boxing, Kickboxing has its background in martial arts and stand-up combat sports and is also used today as a great way to get fit, said class instructor Christi Persing, a certified YogaFit instructor who also teaches Yoga classes at the HealthPlex.

“It’s a strength and cardio work-out that will work most of the muscles in the body during one session,” Persing said. “It’s also a great way to practice self-defense.”

Persing will teach different punching combinations and kicks, among other techniques.

Participants will need to bring a pair of boxing gloves to class.

Cost is $30 for the six sessions and class size is limited. HealthPlex membership is not required.
